It’s 2 a.m., but you’re staring at the ceiling trying to get some much-needed shuteye. You just cannot seem to fall asleep. We’ve all been there. So what do you do? One idea is to try some essential oils.
Here are some that have worked well for people. You might want to try one or more of these to see if they work for you. Just remember that when it comes to essential oils, a little goes a long way. Just a drop or two is all you need, whether you rub it on your pressure points or breathe it in. Or dilute it in water first:
Lavender: Just the word lavender (not to mention the color) makes you want to relax. There’s a reason lavender is such a popular nighttime remedy.
Clary sage: This scent, derived from the herb, has some relaxation powers. It is a more woodsy scent than the softer lavender.
Bergamot: This essential oil has a citrusy aroma to it, which some people finds relieves tension and anxiety. And that can lead to better sleep.
Ylang Ylang: It comes from Southeast Asia and has been shown in a study to calm people’s nervous systems.
Why not give one of these a try the next time you’re counting sheep?
